Cremorne Townhouses
ABOUT THE PROJECT
One of COSO’s largest completed works to-date in our widespread professional portfolio. The dual form structure makes an architectural statement along one of Sydney’s busiest arterial roads. The large multi-storey dwelling contains 20 high-end units right in the heart of Sydney’s north shore.
The building is characterised by its expressed curved fin façade that plays an active role in the buildings passive environmental performance. The fins are key to the buildings adherence to its northern aspect while also being an impressive feat in architectural expression and complex steelwork. The two pavilions are connected by a vertical glass lift the showers the building with natural light while serving as the circulation core to each unit. The lift is blanketed in vertical gardens to pull in the green leafy exterior of the building into each unit.
The building on all sides is an astute interplay of façade layering and architectural detailing that provides varying moments of nuance and character from all surrounding aspects. The façade is an exposure of the buildings structure and sheds light on the engineering feat that is this building. The overall interplay between concrete, masonry construction and lightweight structure deepens the building’s architectural language and is expressive of a luxury across this monumental inner suburban landmark.
