Anthony Solomon is a partner of Connor and Solomon Architects and current chair of a Royal Australian Institute of Architect’s Practice Network. He graduated from Sydney University Architecture Faculty in 1985 having won a number of awards in the arts. He was a collaborator in Phillip Cox, Richardson Taylor and Partners’ Sydney office, between 1986 and 1988 and then with Barry Todd Architects’ London office between 1989 and 1992 where he worked on a number of projects including the second prize winning scheme for Una Porte di Venezia (Gateway to Venice). Having travelled extensively throughout Europe, he returned to set up private practice in 1994, teaming with Paul Connor in 1996. Since then he has co-directed the design process, contract documentation and administration stages of all Connor and Solomon projects resulting in over fifty completed projects, often in environmentally sensitive areas such as the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area near Sydney. He continues to participate on design juries and committees associated with The Royal Australian Institute of Architects.   Paul Connor is a partner of Connor and Solomon Architects. Paul completed his architectural degree with honours at The University of Sydney in 1985 whereupon his work was exhibited in the Royal Australian Institute Of Architects’ ‘Vintage 85’ exhibition. Following his studies, he spent six years associated with Bruce James and the internationally renowned architect John Andrews, collaborating on a wide range of award winning projects. These included first prize in a number of multiple housing competitions, and a number of research trips, notably to The United States and France. Whilst in Paris he won tenure to the Academie des Architectes Cité Internationale Des Arts studio. Having gained admission to Columbia University and Pennsylvania University’s Masters Programmes, he opted instead to widen his visual skills by enrolling in the University of New South Wales Master of Fine Arts research programme. During his studies he received three University of New South Wales College of Fine Arts research grants. In 1996, he was awarded first class honours and since has had many solo and joint exhibitions, being represented in both government and private collections. In the same year, he co-founded Connor and Solomon Architects, completing community consultation projects for local government organizations and Aboriginal Land Councils in environmentally and culturally sensitive areas. Since then the partnership has enjoyed much publication of its many completed buildings, notably for its eco-sensitive development in Mutawintji National Park and the Avalon House, set within a pocket of old growth rainforest near Sydney.
